[ next time she does something reckless that he doesn't approve of ( so like six years from now ) she's going to use that excuse. someday, somehow, that will come back to bite him in the ass.
but for now, she just trails after himlike a puppy with a pout. ]
So what all are you going to loan me?

Kunai would be the most useful, I think.
[ she follows him into the room, peering around all curious like and ... oh. she could just get her revenge for him being obnoxious now.
while he digs around for weapons, sakura flops down on his bed. and, once his back is turned, grabs one of his precious books and flips it open. this idea is just to fuck with him. you know, pretend she's reading to get a reaction out of him. but then a pretty turn of phrase catches her eye and well... she ends up just sitting there reading for real. ]

[Even though he knows it for truth, it still feels good to hear that. The acknowledging nod Itachi offers is laced with relief. It's kind of weird, in a way; here Kakashi stands, older than Itachi has ever seen him, but like this he seems much younger. He was still under Kakashi's command the last time he'd seen him at ease like this, sensible of course given the circumstances that followed ... it might not be much, but it's good to see this, too.
Of course it's not fine. Of course Itachi would accept the burden of whatever time this organization had planned for Kakashi -- as well as the others -- as his own, if he thought it were possible. Better a dead man than those who still have worth in their world. But their circumstances are what they are, and Itachi knows those thoughts are foolish and futile. Instead, he tilts his head, the corner of his mouth turning upwards, a trace of impishness on an otherwise passive face.]
She'll never believe your excuse this time. [And he bites back a sigh, keeping his tone deliberately light despite the creeping sense of frustration.] Well, think of the positives, right? I've been told it's a very uncomfortable seat.
[It's a weak attempt at humor, as usual. Better a flat joke than the things he's really thinking about, though.]

[ sakura rolls her eyes and crosses her arms over her chest. she's not upset that her reading material was stolen back, not at all. ]
It worked on you once. [ just in case he'd forgotten that she and naruto beat him with spoilers once. ] But your books are way too worn out, in any case. They couldn't hurt anything even if you tried to use them as a weapon.

[Sasuke hasn't seen Naruto yet either, and it's not really a subject he wants to get into. He doesn't like to think of the blond being transferred to some other ship. It's not right. At least when he was leaving him back at the village he knew he'd be fine there. That's where he belongs. But if they're going to all be brought into the CDC like this, they should at least be together.
Sakura, though...]
Good. I'll have to seek her out.
[It would be awkward, but they needed to talk sooner rather than later, especially if she hadn't been sent back like he had.]

Not for long? Then I appreciate you taking the time to remember my name.
[you only want the dog and the kids in this relationship, kakashi.]

[In theory, he does. It's mostly just practiced politeness, though; enough to allow him to navigate social situations without becoming overwhelmed. One step outside that territory, though, and he's completely hopeless.
He nods at Kakashi's observation.] I noticed that on Selena VII as well. Apart from the natives of the city, there were many different species than just humans. [Even Kaneki was included in that, albeit just half. Kakashi would most likely learn more about that later, though—as would most of the folks on Red.
It is interesting how many of the voices are those of Earth origin (or, at least, what Kaneki interprets as "Earth origin"), and how many of the recruits happened to be human or resembling human. He wonders if it's a preference of the CDC's. His recruiter had seemed human, but then again, she might've just used that form to speak to him inside his head. You couldn't really apply logic and sense to a meeting like that.
Oh. Well, it seems he doesn't know much more than Kaneki does why he's been thrown in here with all the kiddies. Strange.] Hopefully no one made a mistake putting you in here with all of us, then. [Mostly because that's just... really inconvenient.]
So, if you don't mind me asking, what's next after this? Getting moved in to... wherever we're living on this ship?
