[it's actually a little surprising that there is anyone he can even sort of understand here, outside those who come from his home. that in all the (apparently) infinite universe, some distant cultures had managed to develop the same language. there's almost something poetic or philosophical about that, but kakashi, being neither a poet nor a philosopher, doesn't dwell on it much. he accepts it as true, and moves on.

It's kind of weird, in a way; here Kakashi stands, older than Itachi has ever seen him, but like this he seems much younger. He was still under Kakashi's command the last time he'd seen him at ease like this, sensible of course given the circumstances that followed ... it might not be much, but it's good to see this, too.

[Sasuke hasn't seen Naruto yet either, and it's not really a subject he wants to get into. He doesn't like to think of the blond being transferred to some other ship. It's not right. At least when he was leaving him back at the village he knew he'd be fine there. That's where he belongs. But if they're going to all be brought into the CDC like this, they should at least be together.
